Planting Rice

The process of planting rice.

The ground must be muddy soft for it to be ready and easy to plant the rice seedlings.

These are the rice seedlings. Maybe when it's about 1 ft in height it's ready already to be replanted to the rice potties.

To pull up the rice seedlings is just like weeding, only one is must be careful to pull through the roots. Then they scattered it around for an easy access when the planting session begins.

This is the life of the rice farmer before the day breaks until sunset, rain or shine.

Hope our neighbor will get a rice crop from Tom's hard labor. hehehe

  1. I had no idea there was so much work in planting rice and I had no idea that's what it looks like. I am spoiled when I just buy it off the shelf all ready to boil. Thanks for sharing the pictures with us.

  2. There are other processes that are done such as the harvesting and drying of the rice. The drying has to be done right or you get very bad rice. Most can not afford to pay to run their rice through dryers so it is done by placing it on the ground along the roadways to dry.
